Philips recalled millions of CPAP and other sleep apnea machines because they found out that the many of the machines were omitting a toxic foam caused by a serious issue with the machines. Breathing in this toxic foam can cause cancer and other major respiratory health problems. The foam was going directly into the tube being used to breathe correctly while unaware individuals slept.

The FDA also issued an alert on June 30, 2021, to people using the Philips Respironics ventilators, BiPAP, and CPAP machines, as well as health care providers of the recall due to potential health risks.
