Understanding the Steps of a Case Evaluation

Categories: Info

Our law firm works on a contingency basis which means that you do not pay any legal fees unless you win your case. In most instances one of the first steps in a lawsuit is to exchange money but this is not how it works with us. The exchange of money only comes at the very end when you win your case.

Initial Consultation

So what are the steps of a case evaluation? First of all, you will meet with us to undergo a legal review. During this time we will hear your side of the story and go over what has happened and what you can expect. You can start this process by filling out a form on the side of the page and scheduling an appointment that works for you.

There is no obligation for you to pursue a lawsuit- our initial consultation is simply to get to know you and allow you to understand your legal rights and tell your side of the story. If there are grounds for a lawsuit and if you do decide that this is the avenue you would like to take, then we will move onto the next step.

Investigation

During this time we will investigate your case and go over the Contingency Fee Retainer Agreement which decides on a percentage of your compensation that will be granted to us if you do win your case. How we go from here will depend on the circumstances surrounding the case and whether you have filed a class action or individual claim. Our goal is to negotiate a fair settlement with the manufacturer that is at fault outside of court but if this is not possible, then we will move onto litigation and present the lawsuit to the court.

Compensation

Once your claim has been filed and a decision has been made, either in the courts or outside, we will go over the settlement with you to determine if you agree. If you do, then you will receive a Disbursement Sheet which goes over the facts of the disbursement of all of your funds. Once you have been paid, we will receive our amount as per the Contingency Fee Retainer Agreement. The length of the process and the details will depend on your case. However, you can expect our support the entire time. We offer a 24 hour helpline and will be there with you, discussing any concerns and outlining the situation so that you fully understand. Please contact our 24 hour hotline at 1-800-732-3070 or fill in a form on the side of this page.
